Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai shows confidence to expand business in China with new office

09.22.2021

After nearly 3 months of brand-new renovation and upgrading of the workplace, Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai Co., Ltd. (MDS) moved to the new office in Sinar Mas Plaza located at the North Bund of Shanghai in September.

Exhibition business in China and Düsseldorf has inseparable connections

Since entering the Chinese market in 1999, Messe Düsseldorf has always attached great importance to the trade show business in China. During the 22-year development in China, Messe Düsseldorf has established many good, long-term relations and partnerships with several reputed domestic and international institutions and has successfully curated 13 Asia’s leading professional exhibitions.

In 2020, China was one of the few countries in the world which hosted physical exhibitions. MDS organized 6 in-person events successfully with a total space of 250,000 square meters and welcomed over 3,200 exhibitors and 160,000 trade visitors. From January to September 2021, CIOSH, Chinaplas, All in CARAVANING and ProWine Hong Kong, organized or co-organized by MDS, concluded with a great success. By the end of this year, additional five events specializing in wine & spirits, packaging, wire & cable, and medical devices are scheduled.

Next to organizing high quality exhibitions in China, Messe Düsseldorf’s subsidiary continues to guide leading Chinese companies the way to the trade shows held at their home base in the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia and worldwide. Chinese exhibitors and visitors have become one of the largest groups of foreign participants for Messe Düsseldorf in Düsseldorf. In 2019, 3,000 exhibitors and 16,000 visitors from China attended 17 trade shows organized by Messe Düsseldorf, covering almost 50,000 square meters. Based on sqm, China ranks number four among foreign exhibitors (ranks first from outside of Europe). Messe Düsseldorf is witnessing an ever-growing demand in their leading shows in Düsseldorf from Chinese participants.

Mr. Marius Berlemann, General Manager of MDS expressed on the relocation:” MDS constantly keeps an open mind and is always looking for new cooperation opportunities. In order to realize the future growth plan, the board of MDS has decided to relocate its Shanghai office to Sinar Mas Plaza.” He continued:” The new office underlines our strength and the confidence we have in the Chinese exhibition industry. At the same time the Shanghai office will function as a first point of call for Chinese companies who want to promote their products and services at our leading trade shows in Düsseldorf and worldwide.”

New office makes visitors experience Düsseldorf

With a height of 320-meter, Sinar Mas Plaza, the current tallest building in Puxi, Shanghai is home to many international companies. The newly upgraded office space shows modern elements with highlighting its Düsseldorf roots, creating a comfortable and state-of-the-art working environment. Visitors will be taken on a journey through the city by finding street and landmark names of Düsseldorf. The detailed design makes visitors feel as if they are in the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia. Messe Düsseldorf’s headquarter offers its employees and visitors a unique view of the river Rhine and the iconic Rhine Tower. The new Shanghai office is following this idea by providing unobstructed views of the Huangpu River, its Lujiazui skyline and the world-famous Oriental Pearl TV Tower.
