06.09.2011

The 25th International Exhibition on Plastics and Rubber Industries (CHINAPLAS 2011) ended in a marvelous success on May 20, 2011 at the China Import & Export Fair Pazhou Complex, Guangzhou, PR China.  The breakthroughs of the show's scale, exhibitor and visitor numbers have led to the brilliant achievement of CHINAPLAS 2011.  This year, a 15.5% growth of visitor number was recorded when compared with CHINAPLAS 2010.  94,084 visitors flocked to the show, of which 20.27% came from overseas. Undoubtedly, the improving economy, Government policy, together with the continuous support from various parties, including overseas and local associations, supporters, exhibitors, visitors and media have contributed to the show's success.

"The strong growth of visitor number demonstrates the sign of economic recovery. Many enterprises are aware of the needs to upgrade their production lines in order to enhance their competitiveness and capture the growing market after the financial crisis. Other enterprises spare no effort to align with the green policies highlighted in the 12th Five-Year Plan, such as energy saving, low carbon, etc.," said Ms. Ada Leung, Assistant General Manager of Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd, Organizer of CHINAPLAS.

Ms. Ada Leung added, "The long-standing reputation of CHINAPLAS and the gigantic scale of this year's event contributed to the endless flow of visitors.  Backing up by a vast variety of quality exhibits, advanced green technologies and a comprehensive series of concurrent activities, the show undoubtedly appealed to targeted visitors and buyers from all around the world."

Visitors Benefited from High-quality Exhibitors and Advanced Display
Mr. Stanley Chu, Chairman of Adsale announced at the opening ceremony that CHINAPLAS, with its ever-increasing scale and far reaching impact, is now the world's No.2 plastics and rubber show, following K fair in Germany.  This year, 2,441 exhibitors from 34 countries and regions with 11 pavilions from Austria, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Taiwan, Turkey, UK and USA have pushed the exhibition area to the new high of 180,000sqm.  Among the 11 pavilions, Turkey was the first time to organize a country pavilion in CHINAPLAS and they have expressed interest in expanding the pavilion area in 2012.  As the world's largest plastics machine producer and plastics consumer, China will continue to be the focal point of the global plastics and rubber industries.  With its rapid growth of plastics and rubber application sectors, such as automotive, building & construction, E & E, IT & telecommunications and packaging, etc., the market offers great potential for further development.

Over 1,900 sets of machines and a variety of chemicals and raw materials were displayed at the fairground.  The newly launched exhibits included Krauss Maffei's new ZE 30 UTX twin-screw extruder, BASF's new applications in solar energy and agricultural industries, plus a new light stabilizer tailored for the Asian market, KIEFEL's new IV-Express Infusion Bag Machine, etc.  Besides, Croda Coatings & Polymers launched its broad ranges of Priplast™, Pripol™ and Priamine™ bio-based building blocks for plastics, elastomers and foams. While ISRA Vision unveiled its plastic film inspection equipment, PolyOne introduced its OnColor™ HC Plus, a new line of USP Class VI colorants for the healthcare industry in Asia.

Besides, the newly launched Bio-Plastics & Degradable Plastics Zone and Rubber Machinery & Equipment Zone were set up to offer comprehensive platforms for visitors to obtain the latest market information, acquire all-round solutions and seek for cooperation partners.  Impressed by the show's unprecedented show scale, bounteous exhibits and infinite business opportunities, all interviewed visitors ranked the show as fair, good or excellent.

Mr. Ronaldo Cerri, Director of RONE Ind, a Brazilian buyer, searched for crusher machines in CHINAPLAS 2011.  As the first time to visit CHINAPLAS, he was surprised and impressed by the high quality and cost effective crusher machines displayed at the show.  He foresaw a better show in 2012 and would visit again.

"I have visited CHINAPLAS for 5 times.  This year, I need to source machines and raw materials from plastics manufacturing companies.  I have already found some suitable suppliers, like Davis Standard, Malex plastics and EDI, etc.  CHINAPLAS is a good show with many relevant exhibitors here.  I will visit next show in Shanghai," said Mr. Lawrence Yong, Managing Director of Monier from Malaysia.

"Midea is interested in bulk raw materials and engineer plastic materials, like PP / ABS / POM / NYLON," said Mr. Gao Shikang, Senior Engineer, Purchasing Center of MD Group of Midea.  He added that through CHINAPLAS, they knew more about the recent development of plastics, rubber and processing machines and saw many new products of raw material suppliers, which helped them in sourcing.

With an enormous numbers of visitors, exhibitors were able to achieve their goals of participation, such as exploring new market, establishing new business contacts, meeting existing clients, promoting brand image, and introducing new products, etc.

Mr. Chris Case, VP Sales of Reduction Engineering expressed that CHINAPLAS provided the opportunities for them to display new machines, which allowed them to not only meet the old clients, but also find new customers every year.  That is the reason why they have continually exhibited at CHINAPLAS since 1994.

Mr. Gabriele Foschini, Area Manager, IPM Engineering, an Italy extrusion pipes manufacturer mentioned that CHINAPLAS, as an international show, was a good window for them to gain contacts of buyers from different countries, such as Russia, Canada and Asia, etc.  They revealed that they had obtained a lot of contacts this year.

Exhibiting the first time at CHINAPLAS as a standalone, privately held company, Ms. Peggy Sung, Communications Manger, Asia Pacific of Styron mentioned that CHINAPLAS helped them to gather many existing clients.  They met their old friends, key clients and VIPs at the show and held a series of media and marketing activities along with CHINAPLAS like seminar, gala dinner and media reception.  CHINAPLAS gave them a good platform for brand building and enhancing relationship with customers.

Brilliant Concurrent Events Complementing CHINAPLAS to Perfection
To highlight the theme of "Green Plastics. Our Goal. Our Future", a series of concurrent events was organized with overwhelming response.  The "Beating Record by Recycling Bottles" Kick-off Ceremony, with the "Alive Bottles Tree" made by 3,528 recycled plastic bottles were held to arouse the awareness of the community towards the concepts of recycling and reuse. With an attempt to break the Guinness World Records, the installation of "Alive Bottles Tree" was witnessed by thousands of VIPs, visitors, exhibitors and media.  What's more, the 2-day conference, "Eco-friendly Plastics Conference" held on May 18-19 was over-registered with a long waiting list. Three major topics on bioplastics and degradable plastics, plastics recycling technology and energy saving plastic technology together with the famous speakers invited had grabbed the attention of the participants.

2011 is a momentous year for CHINAPLAS. The organizer and its co-organizers, sponsors, overseas and local supporters and media, loyal exhibitors and buyers had gathered at the banquet to celebrate its 25th Edition and share its milestones and developments over the 24 editions on the first show day.  Mr. Stanley Chu said, "Over the past 28 years, our team has worked hard to establish CHINAPLAS as one of the world's most prominent trade fairs in the plastics and rubber industries.  We expressed our gratitude to our partners, exhibitors and visitors who went through many ups and downs with us.  While looking back to these memorable moments, at the same time, we will continue to strive for excellence and provide more value to our exhibitors and visitors."

In addition, over 40 technical seminars and conferences were held before and during the show to provide an effective platform for in-depth technological exchange and discussion to different groups of end users.

Remarkable Success Paving Way to CHINAPLAS 2012
This year's remarkable success paves the way to CHINAPLAS 2012.  Many of the exhibitors, visitors and media have already expressed their continued support next year in Shanghai.  The next edition of CHINAPLAS will be held at Shanghai New International Expo Center, PR China on April 18-21, 2012. The organizer is confident that CHINAPLAS 2012 will further expand to an exhibition area of 200,000sqm and attract over 2,600 exhibitors.
